Selecting and Saving Videos

1. Click on the Streaming tab and use the search box.
2. You can search according to Georgia standards by using the Curriculum Standards Search or narrow results with the Advanced Search option.
3. Select a video. Play to preview. However, to use a video in class, please download and save them to your HOME folder to save bandwidth. (This also prevents the video from being very slow when you show it in class.)
4. The Download Type will default to Windows Media Player. This works very well for school.
5. Click the download icon to save a clip (see picture). Be sure to save to your HOME folder if you want to use it again.

Tips:
  • You can also save all the clips you like in My Content. Click the box on the right and select Add at the bottom. All the clips will be saved in the My Content folder in your account so you don't have to search again for clips you like.
  • Use the tabs at the top of the download box (see picture above) to find teacher guides, quizzes, citations, etc.
  • You can use the My Builder Tools and My Classroom tabs to build quizzes and create student accounts. For more information about these tools, use the Help tab in the upper right corner or come see Mrs. Frilot in the media center.

Closed Captioning:
Many of the videos offer closed captioning. Look for the CC logo next to the download icon. Follow these steps:
1. Download the video to your HOME folder. CC only works with Windows Media Player.
2. Click the CC icon to download the closed captioning file (.smi) to your HOME folder. These two files must be in the same folder.
3. Open the video in Windows Media Player. Right click and choose "Lyrics, Captions, and Subtitles." Choose "On if available" or "English."
4. Right click again and choose "More Options." Then choose the Security tab and click the box next to "Show local captions when present" and click OK. You may have to exit Windows Media Player and open it back up again for the CC to start working.

See Mrs. Frilot in the Media Center with any questions.
