How to convert video files from one format to another
Option 1
1. Go to www.zamzar.com
2. Click Browse in Step 1 and add your file.
3. Choose what file type works for you. With videos on campus, I recommend choosing .avi (best all-around) or .wmv.
4. Enter your email address. Zamzar will send you a link that you can go to in order to download the file. (I’ve never gotten any junk mail from them.)
5. Check your email. Click the link they provide, and then choose “Download Now.” Save your file in your home folder.
Option 2
1. Download and install the Prism Video Converter from http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
(While it's a download, it should work for students and teachers at school, and it's very fast. Do NOT install any of the "extras" it offers.)
2. Click the green plus sign to add your files, or drag and drop the files into the white area. You may add more than one file at a time (hold down the Ctrl key while selecting your files to do this).
3. Change the output folder to your student number (or flash drive) so you'll know where your converted files are. Click "Browse" to find the right folder.
4. Change the output file format if needed. I recommend .avi because it's the most widely accepted.
(If your files are lengthy, converting them may take awhile, but most should convert quickly.)
Option 3
1. Import your video file into Movie Maker.
2. Click "Save Movie" to save it as a .wmv file.
